The Emira 420 Sport is the lightest, most powerful and most aerodynamically-focused Emira Lotus has ever built – a fitting high point for the marque’s last ever petrol-engine sports car.
At its heart is an uprated 2.0-litre turbocharged unit, producing an incredible 420 PS and 500 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling acceleration from 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed of 186 mph, making this the world’s fastest 4-cylinder production car.
But outright numbers have never been the whole Lotus story. True to the principle of ‘adding lightness’, the 420 Sport sheds up to 25kg with the optional Lotus Lightweight Handling Pack, comprising Multimatic adjustable dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, titanium exhaust, and carbon-fibre tailgate, even a lithium-ion 12-volt battery. Together with a ride height lowered by 5mm, improved brake cooling, and seven exclusive aerodynamic enhancements, responses are sharpened still further, making this the most engaging Emira to drive. Befitting its status in the Emira range, there’s also a new signature paint colour: Tangelo Orange.
The result is a car that does what every great Lotus has always done: reward the driver like no other. Composed, communicative, and thrilling in equal measure, the Emira 420 Sport is a sports car to be savoured.
