First introduced in 2015, the Bentley Bentayga was freshly updated in June 2020 to create the ultimate in power, luxury and usability. Still designed, engineered and handcrafted in Crewe, England, the new Bentayga features an updated design language, first introduced on the latest Continental GT, even more luxurious interior developments and a new range of tech innovations.

The new Bentley Bentayga, introduced five years after the original, tweaks and perfects the formula of Bentley’s enormously powerful, luxurious and elegant SUV . Combining the abilities of a performance grand tourer, a luxury limousine, a family car and an offroader, the new Bentayga – in the face of stiff competition – has been repositioned as the ultimate British luxury sporting off-roader.

The new exterior draws inspiration from Bentley’s latest design DNA, reflected most recently in the Flying Spur. Boldly styled with an assertive, more upright front grille, the new LED elliptical headlights are pushed further apart, offering a new, instantly recognisable design signature and incredible road presence. The rear has undergone a major transformation with a complete overhaul of the surfaces and a new tailgate, including jewellery-like lights. When illuminated, they offer a deep three-dimensional glow, as well as an animated ‘welcome’ feature with a sweeping direction indicator.

Inside, the luxurious interior gets a dose of modernised luxury, with dark tint diamond brushed aluminium trim – a first in a Bentley – alongside two straight-grained veneers: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut. The central pair of traditional ‘bullseye’ centre vents have been replaced by a sculptured single vent with a flowing chrome bezel, that sits above the main infotainment screen and integrates the Breitling clock into its form.

Designed to create an even more relaxing environment for passengers, the driver is treated to an all-new steering wheel with improved functionality, as well as all-new seats throughout, bringing further improvements to long-distance comfort and support.

The new Bentayga V8 is powered by the proven 4.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged V8, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, just as in its predecessor. The engine develops 550PS, accelerating to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 180mph. In late 2020, the new Bentayga will be offered in Hybrid specification and in more powerful W12 Speed guise, providing a breadth of choice to buyers unheard of in this segment.

The Bentley Dynamic Ride system – the world’s first electric active roll control technology – has been further enhanced in the Bentayga line-up, ensuring that the class-leading comfort and handling that the Bentayga has become known for remains intact. A wealth of innovative and advanced new features take the onboard experience to the next level, including a cutting-edge infotainment system with a high-resolution 10.9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay is introduced for the first time, alongside the usual wired functionality and Android Auto features as standard.

The driver is greeted with a fully digital driver’s information panel similar to that in the Continental GT and the new Flying Spur. A myriad of options allows the driver to set up their cockpit as they see fit; the high-resolution screen can be viewed in either Classic or Expanded format, representing a traditional two-dial design or with an additional area for maps and media information. Rear passengers can enjoy legroom increased by as much as 100mm depending on the configuration and a new, larger Touch Screen Remote control tablet, similar to that introduced in the all-new Flying Spur.
