As the first all-electric Rolls-Royce to enter production, the Spectre presents perhaps the most transformative moment in the marque’s 116 year history. But this is not a moment of surprise – it marks a natural milestone in the evolution of luxury motoring. “The electric car is perfectly noiseless and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They should become very useful when fixed charging stations can be arranged.” Said Charles Rolls in 1900.
This milestone is marked with a gentle refinement of classic Rolls-Royce proportions and design. The Spectre is a classic ultra-luxury coupe wearing the Spirit of Ecstacy with pride, and more than a nod to its spiritual predecessor, the Phantom Coupe. But the subtle changes and optimisations result in a drag-coefficient of just 0.25cd, making it the most aerodynamically efficient Rolls-Royce ever produced.
Electrification has made it possible to redefine the height of luxury. Inside the four-seat Spectre, the new Starlight Doors dazzle those who enter with 4,796 softly illuminated stars lining the entrance. The theme continues with the new state-of-the-art illuminated fascia. Developed over the course of two years and more than 10,000 collective hours, it incorporates the Spectre nameplate surrounded by a cluster of over 5,500 stars. For the first time, the Bespoke personalisation programme extends to digital features – the brand new SPIRIT digital architecture can be customised exactly to customer wishes.
Underpinned by the meticulously engineered Architecture of Luxury, the new Spectre embraces the new possibilities unlocked by full-electrification. The 120kWh battery is integrated into the floor, bringing with it both packaging benefits in terms of the amount of room that can be enjoyed inside, and also doubling as a new method of sound deadening, contributing to the 577bhp Spectre being the most serene Rolls-Royce experience ever.
