The Czinger 21C Spyder is the most advanced expression of the 21C platform yet, and the first to remove its roof. At its heart is Czinger’s in-house 2.88-litre twin-turbo V8, the most power-dense homologated V8 in production, producing 750hp and revving to 11,000rpm. It is paired with two electric motors on the front axle and a crankshaft-mounted Motor Generator Unit. Together they deliver a combined 1,250hp and 938Nm through a seven-speed sequential transaxle gearbox. The result is 0-62mph in 1.9 seconds, the quarter mile in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 205mph. With the roof removed, the V8’s induction roar fills the cockpit.
The 21C Spyder debuts two world-first innovations. BrakeNodeâ„¢ combines the brake caliper, suspension upright and hydraulic fluid passages into a single additively manufactured structure. This reduces unsprung mass and cuts stopping distances by up to 15%. NeuralNode replaces the conventional dashboard with one exoskeletal control centre, which routes air through its own structure to forward-facing vents designed for open-top comfort. In total, 23% of the car is additively manufactured. Even without its roof, the Spyder produces 1,482kg of downforce at 150mph, the most of any open-top road car. It weighs just 10kg more than the 21C HDF.
Only 30 examples of the 21C Spyder will be built, each hand-assembled at Czinger’s Area 21 facility in Los Angeles. Like every 21C, it features fighter jet-inspired inline tandem seating, and the rear seat accommodates passengers up to 6’5″. A lightweight carbon fibre hardtop weighing just 10kg detaches via two latches inside the cabin. A stowable soft top is also supplied for unexpected weather. Personalisation is almost limitless: exterior colours can be developed from scratch, carbon fibre can be tinted, and every additively manufactured component, from the chassis structure to the pedals, can be finished in a colour of your choosing.
