Aventador LP 700-4

Highly innovative and hugely powerful, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is at the apex of super sports car performance, from its completely new technology package and carbon fibre monocoque, to the new 700hp 12-cylinder engine and ultra-quick shifting ISR transmission.

In keeping with Lamborghini tradition, its new flagship, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, proudly bears the name of a bull. In this case, an exceptionally brave animal that earned the ‘Trofeo de la Pena La Madronera’ for outstanding courage during the fight.

Overview

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is every inch a Lamborghini, from its sharply sculpted front end to the extremely low roofline and the dramatic rear diffuser. Details are aggressive and dynamic and proportions are impressive. The car measures 4.78m in length, 2.26m wide, yet is only 1.136m in height.

As you would expect, both doors open upwards from the carbon fibre monocoque – a traffic-stopping feature that first appeared on the Countach, and continues through the Diablo and Murcielago lines. An advanced feature of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is the electronically managed air intakes that respond to ambient temperature and the need for engine cooling, yet also ensure maximum aerodynamic efficiency.

For owners wishing to display the feat of engineering that powers their car, there is an optional transparent engine cover.

Technology

The dashboard of the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is pure high technology. As with a contemporary aircraft, the instruments are presented on a TFT-LCD screen, while a second screen is totally dedicated to the multimedia and navigation systems.

The car is built around a full monocoque, with the whole occupant cell made from a single physical component. This ensures extreme strength and rigidity, optimising occupant protection. It also delivers razor-sharp handling precision and responses.

Together with the front and rear aluminium frames, the monocoque achieves incredible torsional stiffness measured at 35,000Nm per degree, yet only weighs 229.5kg.

The specially developed lightweight V12 engine develops 700hp at 8,250rpm, and 509lbs/ft of torque at 5,500rpm. Importantly, the torque curve is flat, so huge flexible power is available across the rev range. To exploit this extraordinary engine, Lamborghini engineers have created the advanced Independent Shifting Rods (ISR) transmission. This is much lighter than a conventional dual clutch transmission and more compact than an ordinary manual unit, while delivering the fastest, smoothest changes possible.
