Bentley’s 6.0 litre W12 engine has been extensively reworked, and now offers an impressive 635PS of power at 6,000 revs. Torque has also increased to 820Nm between 2,000 and 5,000 revs. In practical terms, this means that the Speed GT can achieve 60mph from a standing start in exactly four seconds, and 100mph in nine seconds. It can also reach 206mph, breaking the speed record for a Bentley road car.
Whilst it excels at high speeds, the Speed GT is also notable for its responsiveness when coming to a halt. The optional 420 mm front / 356 mm rear cross-drilled Carbon Silicon-Carbide (CSiC) brake discs weigh 20kg less than the standard cast iron discs, and are capable of lasting for decades. The brakes also work in conjunction with an array of active safety measures that include ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Hydraulic Brake Assistance, Drag Torque Control and aquaplane detection
