The Phantom Extended Wheelbase is the largest vehicle in the Rolls-Royce range. The extra 250mm of length has been put to good use, presenting passengers with the opportunity for further bespoke additions to the interior. It also gives passengers of any stature a huge amount of interior space, making the Extended Wheelbase an even better place to relax before or after social or business engagements.
Despite the size and road presence of the Phantom Extended Wheelbase (it comes in at 6092mm long and 1990mm wide), it never gives the impression of being a large or unwieldy car to drive. The hand-welded aluminium spaceframe and the finely tuned eight-speed transmission mean that steering is light and taking even steep corners is not a challenge.
The increased dimensions compared to the original Phantom has also had no perceptible effect on its turn of pace. Although excessive speed is at odds with the unhurried character of the Phantom Extended Wheelbase, the reserves of power contained within the 6.75-litre V12 engine can (if you so wish) propel you from a standing start to 62mph in just 5.9 seconds.
Like all Rolls-Royce cars, the Phantom Extended Wheelbase allows you to design it according to your exact wishes. More than any other vehicle in the range, it allows for the addition of numerous home comforts with no effect on legroom and headroom. As well as being a retreat from the noise and haste, this car can also be a place to entertain friends or business associates.
The theatre configuration, for example, gives you access to two 12-inch monitors contained within the veneered picnic tables. These are linked to individual DVD players with headphones, which can play material from the same or different sources. The entertainment experience for you and any guests is heightened further by the LOGIC7 surround sound system designed specifically for this model by Harman. If you wish to offer friends a drink then drinks cabinets, complete with decanters, wine glasses and whisky tumblers, can be installed into the rear doors.
