Puritalia Berlinetta

Puritalia has designed will hand build the Berlinetta plug-in hybrid sports car at its home in Naples, with each manufactured to the customer’s exact specifications. In accordance with the brand’s philosophy, each car is built strictly by hand in limited series – heavily adapted for each customer – exclusively by Italian artisans and must have a distinctive technological footprint that differentiates it from other cars.

Limited to 150 cars, owning a Berlinetta is unlike owning any other car. Puritalia believes that owning a Berlinetta means becoming part of an exclusive club, who embrace the brand’s philosophy that sees each customer as an "Ambassador" of the brand. This therefore means that each customer is asked to actively participate in the building process of their car, and to know every technical and constructive detail. Furthermore, the customer will assist in-person at key stages of the building process, like the first engine fire-up and the exciting moment of final delivery.

The Berlinetta features a modern 5.0-litre V8 combustion engine, capable of delivering 750hp at 7000 rpm and 878 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The Yasa advanced axial flux electric motor works in conjunction with the engine to produce an additional 370 Nm of torque and 215hp. Used together, the Berlinetta produces 965hp and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 208 mph.

The Carbon-Aluminium chassis of the Berlinetta ensures both lightness and strength are retained, as well as a heavy dose of Italian style. The front tub of the vehicle is made from pre-impregnated carbon fibre, so it attains its characteristic lightness and offers maximum torsion rigidity. Both the front and rear sub-frames have been created from aeronautical aluminium with suspension plates entirely CNC machined from solid billets. Each plate is manufactured from a single aluminium block of 120kg, but weigh around 10kg by the end of the process. Consequently, this allows Puritalia to connect the suspension components, control arms and shock absorbers, to connect to a single engineered piece without any joints, welds or connections. This provides extreme rigidity, resistance and a centesimal precision in the position of the suspension components. The complete chassis, including all structural supports for the radiators, engine, transmission and electric motor, only weighs 150kg.

With just 150 units planned for production, the Puritalia Berlinetta is a hybrid grand tourer producing a combined 965bhp from its 5.0L supercharged V8 and 215hp electric motor. Topping out at 208mph and hitting 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds, the Berlinetta utilises a monocoque and body entirely made of carbon-fibre, requiring some 800 hours to manufacture. First unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Berlinetta is Puritalia’s first production vehicle and has been designed to replicate the world’s most iconic 1960s grand tourers. A 50/50 weight distribution will also make the Berlinetta a formidable track car, with instant torque from the combined powertrains and AP Racing brakes to bring it swiftly to a stop once more. Recharging the battery to full capacity takes as little as 3 hours, and the onboard systems will work to calculate the optimal route to take advantage of the full range of electric power. Real-time data, including: traffic, weather, road conditions and driving style are all accounted to create the best journey possible.
