You might not think that the 700HP V12 all-wheel drive Aventador needs to be either faster or more eye-catching. But with fifty years of iconic supercars in their back catalogue, Lamborghini probably knows best.
The 50° Anniversario features new front and rear end treatments and is offered with a unique paint finish. It’s also 20HP more powerful, adding to the Aventador’s already stratospheric performance. Thanks to its increased aerodynamic efficiency, that power advantage will be experienced to full effect at higher speeds.
Just one hundred Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario models will be produced worldwide, making it a rare sight, even by Lamborghini standards. The design changes, which are intended to optimise the aerodynamics, include larger, extended front air intakes and aerodynamic splitter together with small flaps set into the sides. The rear end treatment is completely new and features an enlarged diffuser and expansive meshwork that improves heat transfer from the engine bay.
Yellow has long been a popular choice of body colour for Lamborghini owners, stretching right back to the Miura, and the LP 720-4 50° Anniversario will be offered in a unique shade, Giallo Maggio (May Yellow). The structure of this paintwork in sparkling yellow includes a layer of transparent, highly reflective particles that give it an intense glitter effect. Well, why not? You’d be unlikely to choose a Lamborghini if you wanted to keep a low profile. Inside, you can choose from a range of full-grain, natural leathers inspired by the shades of Emilia-Romagna where Sant’Agata is located. Whatever your chosen shade, all 50° Anniversario models will feature the exclusive diamond-pattern Q-Citura stitch.
Lamborghini claims that the aerodynamic changes have optimised handling stability at extreme speeds without impacting drag characteristics. Compared with the Aventador LP 700-4, aerodynamic efficiency has been increased by more than 50%. Helping to make the most of that aerodynamic improvement, the 6.5-litre V12 in the Aventador LP 720-4 50° gets its own engine calibration, making it 20 hp more powerful than the Aventador LP 700-4. With its lightning-fast ISR transmission, the anniversary model accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h. Truly, an Aventador that tops all others, to be enjoyed by 100 fortunate owners. Happy Anniversary, Lamborghini.
