The Supersports name made its debut in 1925 on a highly-tuned Bentley 3 Litre capable of a genuine 100mph. Just eighteen examples were built; the name was revised in 2009 with the 200+mph Continental Supersports, which earned its place in automotive history when ex-rally champ Juha Kankkunen set a new world ice speed record at the wheel. So the new model has quite a heritage to live up to, and prospective owners won’t be disappointed.
Visually, this is one very special Bentley. The new front bumper includes a carbon-fibre splitter, while the rear features an aerodynamic diffuser; a more extreme aero front splitter and rear spoiler is optionally available for the coupé. Brightware is gloss black, and covers front grille, rear bumper, door handles and window surrounds, while the headlamps and rear lights are dark tinted. Side sill extension and bonnet vents are finished in carbon fibre, the front wing vents are gloss black and so are the rifled exhaust pipe finishers. Supersports badging and 21" wheels in gloss black with machined surfaces complete the dramatic, performance-focused look.
Inside, owners have Bentley’s full palette of hide colours, veneers and technical finishes to choose from, as well as the option of chequered Supersports fascia panels in carbon fibre. Among the colour options, Bentley offers a tri-tone hide colour split, a design that’s unique to this model. Seats and door panels feature diamond-quilted Alcantara; the same material can be found on the new Supersports steering wheel and gearshift. As a finishing touch, embroidered Supersports emblems adorn the seat headrests.
