The Rapide S is constructed on an extended and strengthened version of Aston Martin’s "VH" chassis, and makes good use of its extra length (5019mm, or 197.6"). The reinforced rear-wheel drive platform creates extra stability for the adaptive double-wishbone suspension.
The additional space provided by the long frame also enables the fitting of elongated seats with integrated headrests that provide excellent lower back support. As ever, the upholstery itself is made from pliable and finely stitched leather. The pleasant ambience and comfort of the cabin helps to reduce physical stress to a minimum, even on journeys taking many hours.
Weighing 1990kg (4387lb), many would expect the Rapide S to come to a sudden halt far less swiftly than it accelerates through the gears. The ventilated dual cast brakes, however, are superbly responsive and allied to a range of systems to assist control.
2016 model upgrades include the updated AMi II Infotainment system which offers improved driver interface controls with additional vehicle information. Updates also include the introduction of a new style fascia, this stylish one-piece console now flows through the centre of the car, offering a more useable interface for both the driver and the passenger.
