The 6.0-litre V12 engine of the DBS Coupé is one it shares with the manufacturer’s DBR9 racing car, a former Le Mans winner. The front mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive unit provides 510 bhp at 6500rpm, with a maximum torque of 570Nm at 5750rpm. Unsurprisingly, the rate of acceleration and maximum speed are impressive – the DBS can reach 62mph from a standing start in 4.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 191mph.
Nevertheless, the vehicle loves the bends of country lanes as much as it does straight, fast roads. The Verticle Horizon structure keeps 85% of the weight of the vehicle between the two wheelbases, meaning that the DBS keeps its balance well at high speeds. Carbon-ceramic brake discs, 20” alloy wheels and a fast-acting Traction Control system also give it the stability to glide round tight corners without any loss of control.
