DB9 Coupe

2009 - 2013

Extreme performance: mighty V12 in a light, powerful package.

This model is no longer in the new Aston Martin range as it has been replaced by the new Aston Martin DB9 GT.

The DB9 Coupé offers the performance, looks and firm ride of a true sportscar, whilst being able to seat four occupants. And like all Aston Martins, its exterior and interior can both be customised to your exact requirements. The low profile and careful proportions of the DB9’s bodywork give the vehicle a curved, harmonious look as well as a drag coefficient of just 0.35.

The swept-back halogen headlights and characteristic wide grille add to its strong road presence. The emphasis on quality and simplicity is just as noticeable from inside the vehicle. The interior is comprised of fine hand-stitched leather, aluminium detailing and a matt wood dashboard that has been designed to appear as part of the structure of the car, rather than glossy decorative strips.

The DB9 Coupé is built around the new generation AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine which has been tuned to suit the character of DB9. This powerful unit results in 510bhp at 6500rpm and 620Nm of torque at 5500rpm, and sounds every bit as potent as these figures would indicate. On the open road, the DB9 is capable of a top speed of 183mph. The engine, however, provides ample thrust at low revs. 80% of torque is available at just 1500 revs, meaning that the ride is never impatient during everyday journeys th

rough urban or suburban areas.

It is possible to achieve 0-62mph acceleration in 4.6 seconds, with the shift-by-wire technology of the “Touchtronic 2” 6-speed automatic transmission providing steady, uninterrupted power delivery.

Instead of using an adapted saloon car chassis, the DB9’s designers started from scratch to build a brand-new bonded aluminium frame. This purpose-built structure was made using the latest welding techniques, resulting in a strong yet light chassis that provides stability and precise steering. Futher enhancements include new Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) discs and callipers which save 12.5kg versus a conventional iron system and new ‘Gen4’ VH arcitechture Adaptive Damping System which has been enhanced to include three modes: Normal, Sport and Track.

Announced in time for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the new DB9 Cabon Editions are now available in two special edition colours; AML Carbon Black II and Carbon White.

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe

Although it features an array of advanced features to assure greater convenience and safety, flashy technology for its own sake is not part of the DB9’s ethos. Even apparently ornamental touches, such as the upward-tilting “swan wing” doors, offer improved access and reduce the possibility of scuffing the bottom of the doors on high pavements.

Driver-convenience features, from the automatic temperature control to the LED map-reading lights, are within easy reach but never draw your attention away from the timeless quality of the cabin. Extensive safety measures also offer protection for the driver and passengers. Anti-lock brakes, Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist help you to keep the vehicle under control at any speed or in any conditions.
