The DB9 Coupé is built around the new generation AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine which has been tuned to suit the character of DB9. This powerful unit results in 510bhp at 6500rpm and 620Nm of torque at 5500rpm, and sounds every bit as potent as these figures would indicate. On the open road, the DB9 is capable of a top speed of 183mph. The engine, however, provides ample thrust at low revs. 80% of torque is available at just 1500 revs, meaning that the ride is never impatient during everyday journeys th
rough urban or suburban areas.
It is possible to achieve 0-62mph acceleration in 4.6 seconds, with the shift-by-wire technology of the “Touchtronic 2” 6-speed automatic transmission providing steady, uninterrupted power delivery.
Instead of using an adapted saloon car chassis, the DB9’s designers started from scratch to build a brand-new bonded aluminium frame. This purpose-built structure was made using the latest welding techniques, resulting in a strong yet light chassis that provides stability and precise steering. Futher enhancements include new Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) discs and callipers which save 12.5kg versus a conventional iron system and new ‘Gen4’ VH arcitechture Adaptive Damping System which has been enhanced to include three modes: Normal, Sport and Track.
Announced in time for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the new DB9 Cabon Editions are now available in two special edition colours; AML Carbon Black II and Carbon White.
