AN ALL-ROUNDER
The Virage Coupe is a sports GT which offers seating for either two or four occupants and a highly adaptive suspension system, making it an all-rounder that delivers practicality along with style and pace. From the outside the low stance, visible front intakes, 20” five-spoke alloy wheels and pronounced side sills display the Virage’s athleticism.
Bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights and the famous Aston Martin grille accentuate the vehicle’s rakish frame. The design of the interior is a similarly tasteful exercise, with full-grain leather, high-gloss wood and a graphite/iridium silver centre console.
RELATIVELY RESTRAINED CHARACTER
The Virage Coupe is a civilised car with the emphasis on comfort and convenience. Nevertheless, it is still highly capable in terms of performance. Its 6.0-litre V12 engine offers a maximum of 490bhp, acceleration from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds, and a top speed of 183mph.
In keeping with the Virage’s emphasis on usability, however, the engine and transmission have been designed for thrust at ordinary road speeds rather than sheer power. 85% of its 570Nm of torque is available at 1500rpm, making acceleration at low and middling speeds extremely brisk – very useful for the varied pace of urban or suburban driving. The noise produced by the usually raucous Aston Martin unit has also been toned down – again, this fits in better with the car’s relatively restrained character.
