ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RACING CARS

The Vantage is one of Aston Martin’s most successful racing cars of all time – impressive, considering it was designed for the road. With the Vantage GT12 special edition, the compliment is returned. This road-legal machine features race-inspired technology, reduced weight, a broader track and radical aerodynamics. Production is limited to just 100 examples.

The recipe for racing success is sometimes a simple one. In Aston Martin’s case, it involved choosing the model with the smallest, strongest and stiffest body and shoehorning in their largest and most powerful engine. The result – the V12-engined Vantage GT12 – has recorded poles, wins, podiums and fastest laps across the globe, most recently finishing third in a thrilling 2015 Bathurst 12 hours.

The road-based Vantage GT12 limited edition isn’t quite as stripped out and Spartan as its racing siblings, but the essence is much the same. A 6.0 litre V12 generates up to 600PS for blistering acceleration while extensive use of lightweight materials shaves the weight down by 100kg, compared with the V12 Vantage S.

BESPOKE FEATURES

The Vantage GT12 is also lower and wider than any of its Vantage siblings, with a broader track for more composed cornering and less lateral load transfer. 19” forged alloy satin black wheels are shod with super-grippy Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The dampers and springs and uprated and there’s a choice of Normal, Sport and Track settings.

Flared carbon fibre wings, carbon fibre bonnet, door casings and even the option of a carbon fibre roof and polycarbonate rear windows bring the weight tumbling down to 1565kg. A dramatic front splitter and large rear wing underscore the message – this is an uncompromising machine, designed for high speed track and road driving.

Inside there’s a full carbon fibre centre stack and touch-sensitive control array, the seats are in carbon fibre and the Alcantara™ trim adds a further touch of race-evolved practicality. Bespoke features are available via Q by Aston Martin, enabling owners to tailor the Vantage GT12 to their own individual preferences.
