AN ATHLETIC SISTER TO THE COUPE
The DBS Volante is almost as athletic as its sister coupé, whilst giving a more leisurely feel. Its redesigned frame gives it unusual rigidity for a convertible, while the characteristic rumble of the V12 engine and fine detailing of the interior make every journey into a special occasion.
No performance has been sacrificed compared to the coupé; the Volante offers a similarly swift and controlled ride at all speeds and on all types of road. The tonneau cover housing the lowered roof and anti-roll bars fits neatly behind the rear seats, detracting neither from the car’s looks nor its drag coefficient.
NOTABLY STABLE AND EASILY CONTROLLED
The Volante is a large car, but the extensive use of lightweight materials means that it comes in at just 113kg heavier than the coupé. The 510bhp of thrust available from the 6.0 litre V12 ensures an equally lively ride. Capable of 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 191mph, this convertible has given up little in terms of performance.
In addition to offering the sensation of exhilarating speed in the open air, the Volante is notably stable and easily controlled. Even when caught in low-speed traffic, the pedals are finely weighted enough to ensure smooth, regular progress. And at mid-range speeds the ride is equally assured, without disguising the reserves of power available if you feel the need to put your foot down.
