THE ULTIMATE INCARNATION
Aston Martin describes the DB9 GT as the ‘ultimate incarnation’ of the DB9 line, and reminds us that the GT badge only ever appears on the most powerful DB models. All of which sets up our expectations nicely for an Aston Martin open tourer of towering performance, enhanced by a few subtle design touches here and there. Rest assured the DB9 GT Volante doesn’t disappoint.
As with its coupé stablemate, the DB9 GT Volante features some distinctive design touches to keep those lean, elegant lines up to the minute. There’s a gloss black splitter and diffuser, while both the headlamps and clear rear tail lamps feature a black border, adding a touch of dark menace. Swapping brightwork for dark refreshes the look of the DB9 and gives it a low, lean and planted look, complemented by the 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels.
Inside, the dark theme continues with Piano Black fascia and Iridium trim, while new fluted seats and door inserts in Bridge of Weir leather feature the micro perforation first offered on the Vanquish. Headrest embroidery features the GT emblem and there’s a sill plaque with the full model name. As ever craftsmanship is impeccable, and another nice design touch is the engraved ‘GT’ fuel filler cap.
The new DB9 GT Volante also features the new AMi II infotainment system, offering more comprehensive and user-friendly access to audio, hands-free calling and vehicle status updates. You can even see real-time power and torque output meters as well as check tyre pressures on the move.
