HR Owen announces the appointment of Andy Duncan as Chief Executive

HR Owen, the luxury motor retailer is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Duncan as Chief Executive Officer. Andy will take up the role on October 4th and join the HR Owen Board at that time. His appointment follows a wide-ranging and in-depth selection process that has been conducted over the past four months.

Andy was most recently the Chief Executive of Channel 4, a position he held from 2004 to 2009. During his time there, the company increased its share of total UK television viewing from 10% to a record 12% and grew its share of the UK television advertising market every year to a record 25% in 2009.

Prior to this he was an Executive Board member at the BBC, where he was Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences, and the founding Chairman of Freeview. Andy has also had a 17-year career at Unilever, where he held a number of top level positions in general management, marketing and sales. In addition to his executive experience Andy is a non-executive director at HMV plc, the leading entertainment retailer. He has also been Chairman of the Media Trust since 2006.
