Curtain comes down on the Le Mans Classic 2010
Maranello, 12 July
The fifth running of the Le Mans Classic, the biannual event that hosts over four hundred historic cars at the venue of the legendary 24 Hour race, came to an end yesterday. Among the many Prancing Horse cars taking part over the fantastic three days, four of them were run by Ferrari Classiche, the Maranello department which looks after certification and restoration of historic cars, with a dedicated technical support area in the paddock: they were a 1959 Ferrari 196 S, an 1961 246/196 SP, a 1964 275/330 P and the 1962 330 TRI LM which won the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours in the hands of Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien.
Apart from these competing cars, on display was also the famous Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta, nicknamed "Breadvan," which was recently given its "Attestation for vehicles of historic interest" by Ferrari SpA and a large FIAT transporter used by Scuderia Ferrari from 1956. Cars from the current range also attracted plenty of interest, including the 599 GTO, the 458 Italia, the Ferrari California and 599 GTB Fiorano in "HGTE" trim.
