Taste of Italy – 14-16th September 2009
H.R. Owen are delighted to announce their first ‘Taste of Italy’ trip, an informal break with like-minded people to take in the best of Italian food, wine, hospitality, shopping and, of course, a tour of the famous Ferrari and Maserati Factories.
The trip starts in style on Monday morning with a private charter flight out of Farnborough Airport, a lovely modern facility with courtesy parking right in front of the terminal. This means a minimum of fuss before we board our own flight to Bologna. Upon arrival we will met by our driver for the next three days who will take us to the sumptuous 5* Hotel Fini San Francesco in Modena. This new boutique hotel is the only five star hotel in the area and as such is extremely popular with Ferrari clients.
Having checked in we will take a short walk to the beautiful Piazza Grande in the town centre where will lunch at the Caffe Concerto. At this time of year it is a lovely spot to sit outside and eat looking up at the Duomo di Modena and the famous Torre della Ghirlandina.
After lunch we will head to the Schedoni leather workshop in Modena where we can learn about Simone Schedoni’s team of craftsmen and women who have made leather goods for Ferrari for generations. We will then return to the town centre for some valuable shopping time before going to dinner at the famous Fini Ristorante.
Tuesday is our main day with a visit to the Ferrari Factory in Maranello in the morning. As well as a tour of the V8 and V12 production lines and the new California production line, for the first time you will be able to tour the F1 facility where the cars of the Scuderia are hand built. There is also an opportunity to see the famous building where all the FXX and F1 cars are stored, a truly breathtaking sight. We will also visit the Ferrari Store and Galleria Ferrari Museum before going to the rustic Montana Ristorante for lunch.
In the afternoon we will visit the Maserati Factory for a tour and in the evening, we will have dinner at the Europa 92 Ristorante located in the countryside on the outskirts of Modena. This famous restaurant was owned by Luciano Pavarotti until his death and the food is second to none.
We will have some free time on Wednesday morning before catching a midday flight back to Farnborough.
