V12 Vantage S

More power, less weight and even more responsive. Ferocious.

The V12 Vantage gave us a V12 engine in the lightest sports car chassis Aston Martin produce. The V12 Vantage S takes this concept one step further with an even lighter chassis and an even more powerful engine. Compared to the athletic but subtle looks of most Aston Martins, the V12 Vantage S has an unapologetically belligerent appearance.

The new carbon fibre front grille not only gives the V12 Vantage S its striking and aggressive appearance, but is designed to feed more air into the improved 565bhp engine. The clearly visible carbon fibre diffusers at the front and rear, the large air intakes on the front bumper, and the wasp-waisted side panels are notable stylistic differences from the V8 Vantage models.

Overview

Weighing in 15kg lighter than the V12 Vantage, the V12 Vantage S can reach speeds to up to 205mph (compared to 190mph for the V12 Vantage) meaning it's the fastest Aston Martin series production model ever made.

Its new-generation AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine delivers peak torque of 620Nm, a 9% increase on the V12 Vantage. The car also showcases Aston Martin's new Sportshift III technology - a new 7-speed gearbox specifically designed to tap the power of the V12 Vantage S. The throttle response is instantaneous and seamless in any gear, with light-touch paddleshifts to give the driver maximum control as both hands can remain on the wheel.

With the new front grille improving air intake and air velocity both the Sportshift III transmission block and all-new exhaust muffler were shaped to provide maximum downforce. With an all new surface insulation made from 80% recycled materials covering 33% more cabin area than V12 Vantage, the V12 Vantage S gives a 30% reduction in noise with virtually the same mass. The 300 litres of boot space is also a notable achievement, considering that this is a compact sportscar just over four metres in length.

Technology

Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

All new carbon ceramic brakes and three stage adaptive damping ensure that the V12 Vantage S remains stable and controlled even on winding rural roads. The unique track-mode has delayed anti-lock braking technology giving revolutionary levels of response to driver input.

The ventilated carbon ceramic brake discs, measuring 398mm at the front and 360mm at the rear, mean that the stopping distance at 60mph can be as little as 32.3 metres in dry conditions. The Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres assist the brakes in maintaining stability when decreasing speed. With the Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control, they also give the car excellent grip when negotiating tight corners.

Driving the V12 Vantage S is made a still more enjoyable experience by standard amenities such as an Apple iPod connector, Bluetooth® phone preparation and a satellite navigation system. There is also the option of a 1000W Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system, which accompanies your journey with outstanding clear sound.

2016 model upgrades include the updated AMi II Infotainment system which offers improved driver interface controls with additional vehicle information. Updates also include the introduction of a new style fascia, this stylish one-piece console now flows through the centre of the car, offering a more useable interface for both the driver and the passenger.
