V12 Zagato
With an exterior constructed from ultra-lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre composite panels and a cabin made from premium British leather, the Zagato is a work of art that embodies Aston Martin’s racing heritage and commitment to quality.
The V12 Zagato is a limited edition concept car built to celebrate the 50-year link between Aston Martin and the Italian coachbuilder Zagato. 150 of these hand-made endurance racers will be produced, with deliveries starting from late 2012. Before production started the Zagato had already attracted notable accolades, winning the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for 2011.
Overview
The V12 Zagato has imposing looks even by Aston Martin standards, with the front profile dominated by a larger version of the characteristic wide grille. Carbon fibre front air intakes, A-pillars, diffusers and door mirror casings add to its distinctive appearance. The extensive use of this strong yet lightweight material, as well as the specially designed forged aluminium wheels, has reduced the weight of the Zagato to 1680kg.
Inside, the seats are made of Bridge of Weir leather from Renfrewshire (the same leather used for the benches of the Houses of Parliament), finished in semi-aniline to increase durability and with a hand-stitched interior trim and “Z” motifs. They are also adjustable in six different ways to provide drivers of all shapes and sizes with the best possible seating position. A satin-finished carbon fibre centre console and inlaid sill plaques (also carbon fibre) with the legend “V12 Zagato” round off the look of the cabin. The car is available in four hues exclusive to the model; Scintilla Silver, Alloro Green, Alba Blue, or Diavolo Red.

Technology
The 6.0-litre V12 engine puts a maximum of 510bhp at your disposal. With 570Nm of torque at 5750rpm, the Zagato can accelerate to 62mph from zero in 4.2 seconds. It shares the independent double-wishbone suspension of the V12 Vantage on which it is based, assuring a firm (yet forgiving) ride.
Its highly responsive steering column, along with high-grip 19” Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres and carbon ceramic brakes, means that handling is assured as well as speed. The Zagato’s stability on the road is further improved by an assortment of active safety features including Dynamic Stability Control with “Track” mode, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, and Traction Control.
