V12 Vantage

The clearly visible carbon fibre diffusers at the front and rear, the large air intakes on the front bumper, and the wasp-waisted side panels are notable stylistic differences from the V8 Vantage models. These modifications, however, have not simply been made for appearance’s sake; each one provides an incremental boost that maximises the vehicle’s performance.

As its name suggests, the most aggressive variant of the Vantage range features the manufacturer’s renowned V12 engine – as well as performance and looks to match the 510bhp the motor produces. Compared to the athletic but subtle looks of most Aston Martins, the V12 Vantage has an unapologetically belligerent appearance.

Overview

The V12 Vantage is available as both a Coupé and a Roadster. The two variants are slightly different in terms of 0-62mph acceleration (4.2 seconds for the Coupé, 4.5 seconds for the Roadster), due to the extra 80kg of weight added by the Roadster’s roof and modified suspension. There is no difference, however, in the maximum speed of 190mph.

As well as vast reserves of horsepower, the 6.0-litre V12 engine delivers maximum torque of 570Nm at 5750rpm. The throttle response is therefore instantaneous in any gear, particularly when travelling on roads fast enough to make “Sport Mode” feasible.

The V12 Vantage’s leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre interior cossets you from bumps and potholes. The 300 litres of boot space is also a notable achievement, considering that this is a compact sportscar just over four metres in length.

Technology

Advanced brakes and tyres ensure that the V12 Vantage remains stable and controlled even on winding rural roads.

The ventilated carbon ceramic brake discs, measuring 398mm at the front and 360mm at the rear, mean that the stopping distance at 60mph can be as little as 32.3 metres in dry conditions. The Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres assist the brakes in maintaining stability when decreasing speed. With the Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control, they also give the car excellent grip when negotiating tight corners.

Driving the V12 Vantage is made a still more enjoyable experience by standard amenities such as an Apple iPod connector, Bluetooth® phone preparation and a satellite navigation system. There is also the option of a 1000W Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system, which accompanies your journey with outstanding clear sound.
