DB9 Volante
The intelligent design of the Volante, however, means that its performance and luggage room is all but identical to the DB9 Coupé. Nor is this a convertible that only appears impressive from the front. The ingenious roof mechanism takes up as little space as possible in the rear, meaning that the Volante retains its slender looks from any angle.
In good weather, the DB9 Volante delivers a sublime open-top experience. At the first appearance of clouds, however, the soft-top roof can close in 17 seconds to enclose you in a warm, well-crafted cabin. Many soft-top convertibles are forced to compromise on performance and interior space.
Overview
The Volante has the same new generation AM11 6.0-litre, 48-valve engine as the coupé model. Performance has been affected so little by the addition of a retractable roof that acceleration from 0-62mph is identical at 4.6 seconds, and the top speed at 183mph. Independent double wishbone suspensions at the front and rear with coil springs and anti-roll bars deliver a composed performance and protection for the occupants.
The folding fabric roof offers you the best of all worlds. Lowered, it allows you to enjoy the resonant sound of the V12 engine, whilst the design of the windscreen and cockpit saves you from buffeting and excessive wind noise. A single touch of a button, however, raises the roof to enclose you in a refined and quiet cabin featuring the usual Aston Martin craftsmanship and attention to detail.

As well as its fine engine and stunning looks, the Volante offers a variety of equipment to heighten your driving experience. The car’s structure has been purpose-built to combine pace and composure. The suspension’s Adaptive Damping System allows you to choose “Sport Mode” for a firmer ride, whilst the limited-slip differential of the transmission distributes torque to the wheels with maximum efficiency.
Climate control, powered seat adjustment, heated windscreens and seats, and an auto-dimming rear view mirror are amongst the features increasing the comfort of the Volante’s leather, wood and aluminium interior. A 700W Aston Martin entertainment system with Dolby® Pro Logic II® sound, an Apple iPod connector, USB port, auxiliary input socket and Bluetooth® connectivity give you a variety of entertainment and communication options.
